Managing Learning
Page Overview
This page demonstrates my use of different learning styles use different formative assessments and how to motivate students during the learning process.
Definition
Managing and learning refers to the wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during a class. When classroom-management strategies are executed effectively, teachers minimize the behaviors that impede learning for both individual students and groups of students, while maximizing the behaviors that facilitate or enhance learning. Generally speaking, effective teachers tend to display strong classroom-management skills, while the hallmark of the inexperienced or less effective teacher is a disorderly classroom filled with students who are not working or paying attention(CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT, 2014).
Professional Development Plan
Managing and learning to teach is an important strength to develop the student and provide a safe environment for the student to increase their academic performance. According to my PDP I implemented effective strategies to control classroom management. I tried to use different formative assessments, motivate students in the learning process, and use different activities to make the lesson fun and enjoyable.

Description
When it comes to effective teaching, it’s crucial to create a learning environment where students feel safe, known, and motivated to learn. As the teacher, a large part of establishing such a learning environment is dependent on your ability to maintain control over your classroom. That’s where classroom management comes in.
The classroom management approach that you choose to use in your classroom has a direct impact on your effectiveness as a teacher(Kratochwill, 2015).
Rational
Effective classroom management:
-
Establishes and sustains an orderly environment in the classroom.
-
Increases meaningful academic learning and facilitates social and emotional growth.
-
Decreases negative behaviors and increases time spent academically engaged.
Although effective classroom management produces a variety of positive outcomes for students. Chaotic classroom environments are a large issue for teachers and can contribute to high teacher stress and burnout rates. Therefore, it is important to use effective classroom management strategies at the universal level in a tiered model, as they serve as both prevention and intervention methods that promote positive outcomes for students(Kratochwill, 2015).
Reflection
Classroom management is crucial for every teacher to have in a successful learning environment. I believe that students need to be controlled and disciplined; students at this age need to be guided on the right path. They are capable of self-discipline but need to be shown what the rules of the classroom are and what is the expectation of the teacher. I believe that students are basically good but that the environment around them influences them tremendously. If they maintain busy with instruction then they will not have time to be disruptive and they need to be guided to behave appropriately. Students should feel that they are in a safe, nurturing, and supporting environment where they can learn(Reflection Of Classroom Management, 2022).
